Product Introduction
The TERUNSOUL D016 Anti-Glare Circular Polarizing Filter (CPL Filter) is an optical accessory specifically designed for the D016 dashcam. Installed in front of the dashcam lens, it effectively eliminates reflections of the dashboard, road glare, and sky glare from the windshield using circular polarization technology, resulting in cleaner, more contrasting, and more realistic footage.
If you find that your dashcam displays reflections of the dashboard, air vents, or tissue box on the windshield during daytime recording, causing severe ghosting, a CPL filter is the most direct solution. It doesn't change the dashcam's original functionality, doesn't affect 4K image quality, and simply screws into the lens to significantly improve image usability.
Why do you need a CPL filter?
Without a CPL filter, when a dashcam records through the windshield, the glass surface reflects objects such as the dashboard, air vents, and other interior items, creating a ghosting effect superimposed on the road image. Especially in backlit, direct sunlight, or light-colored dashboard conditions, reflections can severely interfere with image quality, making license plates illegible and road signs blurry.
After installing a CPL filter:
Eliminates windshield reflections – Dashboard reflections are significantly reduced or even eliminated.
Reduces road and water glare – Road surfaces are clearer in rain, snow, and sunlight.
Enhances image contrast and saturation – Skies are bluer, greenery is more vibrant, and image detail is more pronounced.
Improves license plate recognition – License plates are easier to identify after reflections are eliminated.
For drivers seeking clearer evidence, this is a low-cost, high-return image quality upgrade.
Key Features
Custom-designed for D016 – The mount size perfectly matches the D016 lens; screw-in installation ensures a secure, wobbly fit.
Circular Polarization Technology – Effectively filters polarized reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as glass, water, and roads.
High-Definition Optical Glass – Multi-layered coating for high light transmittance, maintaining 4K image quality without introducing additional distortion.
Rotational Adjustment – Rotating the lens allows for real-time adjustment of the polarization angle to adapt to different light directions.
Easy Installation – No tools required; simply screw into the front of the D016 lens.
Does Not Affect Original Camera Functions – Does not obstruct the lens's field of view and does not affect existing functions such as WiFi, GPS, and night vision.
Included Storage Case – Properly protects the lens when not in use, preventing scratches.
Installation Instructions
Turn off the dashcam and ensure the lens surface is clean and dust-free.
Remove the CPL filter from the packaging and ensure the lens is free of stains.
Align the filter with the threaded front end of the D016 lens and gently screw it in clockwise until it is securely in place.
Turn on the dashcam and observe the screen or mobile app.
Slowly rotate the outer ring of the filter until the windshield reflection is minimized and the image is clearest.
After adjustment, the filter will be at the optimal angle. No repeated adjustments are needed daily.
💡 Note: The optimal polarization angle may vary slightly depending on the light direction. Adjust once during daytime installation; this is negligible at night or in tunnels.
Compatibility
✅ Compatible with: TERUNSOUL D016 dashcam
❌ Incompatible with: D018, D019, D021, FW983A and other brands or models
Please confirm your dashcam model is D016 before purchasing. The filter mount is D016 specific and cannot be used with other models.
FAQ
Q: Can this filter be used on D018 or D021?
A: No. This filter has a D016 specific mount; its size and thread are incompatible with D018, D021, and other models. Please confirm that your dashcam model is D016.
Q: Will night vision deteriorate after installing the CPL filter?
A: The CPL filter will slightly reduce the amount of light entering the dashcam (approximately 1-1.5 stops), but the D016's night vision enhancement function will still work normally at night or in extremely low light conditions. If you drive frequently at night, it is recommended to remove the filter at night and reinstall it during the day for optimal night vision.
Q: Will the filter affect 4K image quality?
A: No. The filter uses high-definition optical glass and multi-layer coating, with high light transmittance, and will not reduce resolution or cause significant distortion. After correct installation, the image is actually clearer.
Q: How do I determine if the polarization angle is correct?
A: After installation, observe the image. Rotate the filter until the dashboard reflection on the windshield is weakest, the sky is bluest, and road reflections are minimal. This is the optimal angle.
Q: Is the filter easily scratched?
A: The lens surface has a hardened coating and is not easily scratched under normal use. It is recommended to store it in the included storage case when not in use. Use the included cleaning cloth or lens paper for cleaning.
Q: Can I put the lens cap back on after installing the filter?
A: The D016 lens cap has a snap-on design. After installing the CPL filter, you may not be able to directly put the original lens cap back on. It is recommended to remove the filter and store it in the storage case when not in use.
Q: What is the difference between this filter and a regular polarizing filter?
A: This filter uses a custom-designed mount specifically for the D016. It screws in, requiring no adapter ring and adding no extra thickness. Standard polarizing filters require an adapter ring and may not be compatible with the D016 lens size.
